Thermal coal is Hot ??

So  thermal coal !! yes thermal Coal _ there are more and more companies  shifting their coal priorities to mining thermal coal rather than coking coal ?? so you might say ..yeh but why ? Macarthur coal , white haven coal , Gloucester coal all are coal mining companies.why thermal coal ?Thermal coal is principally used for power generation, with approximately 39% of the world's electricity generated through the use of thermal coal. Thermal coal is produced at the macarthur’s  Moorvale Mine. They have stepped up the production of  thier thermal coal mining. China and india  are countries that are rapidly growing  due to thier economic and industrial expansion. And who does not need electricity. The coal is exported to Asia and Europe for use in coal fired power stations. Thermal coal has also been confirmed at Macarthur Coal's West Rolleston and Monto prospects. Gloucester says a sudden drop in coking coal demanded has resulted in a “flow-on” effect for thermal markets as produc…

Indian stock market Blue chips at bargain prices

It is a good time to build a portfolio with bluechips trading at 10-12 times price to earnings. "At 8,000 or so, the market was very pessimistic. That was an opportunity to buy and invest without looking at anything. Even now, I don’t think valuations are anything to be worried about if one is a long-term investor with 3-4 years horizon. I think at 10-11-12 P/E multiple for the broader market and more like 8-10-12 times for individual companies are times to build your portfolio with bluechips." On Q4 earnings, numbers are on expected lines with some positive surprisesTechnorati Tags: ,,, Raamdeo Agrawal, Director and Co-Founder, Motilal Oswal Financial Services in India  SAYS “ I think this rally has been quite extended. I am very surprised in terms of its strength and longevity. But my sense is that one big event which the market is seeing is the installation of a new government. Around that time, we should see whether the market will peak out …

Foreclosures and Repossesions of Homes rise

Repossessions and foreclosures of homes are on the rise in Australia

Is uranium stocks gonna be the next black gold ??

Korab has been approached by - it says - a number of listed companies wanting to back Uranium Australia and its prospects into their companies. This is significant, and is possibly the strongest indicator to date that some money may now be coming off the sidelines and looking for opportunities in the uranium exploration sector.
Other recent developments back up this theory.Stronger than expected earnings emerging from US multinationals last week will likely help Australian share markets start firmly this week.If other US bluechips due to report this week follow Citigroup and General Electric's surprise quarterly results, the Wall Street rally is set to continue, giving the Australian market further confidence during the week. Higher metals prices on the London Metals Exchange on Friday, including a 4 per cent rise in the zinc price, is another reason to expect the market to open higher, CommSec chief economist Craig James said.

Is woolworths in your stock portfolio ??

Woolworths has been at or near the top of that list since early this decade. Known affectionately as "Woolies" in Australia, the company has ramped up the refurbishment of supermarkets in an effort to retain and bring in new customers. The company is spending one billion Australian dollars, or roughly US$730 million, in its fiscal year ending June 2009 to rehabilitate old supermarkets as well as build new ones. Management plans to open 26 new stores in its fiscal year.It is a bold plan, coming at a time when many companies are keeping spending to a minimum as a result of the global economic downturn. Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch analyst David Errington questioned the expenditures in a recent report that downgraded the stock to "neutral" from "buy." "We maintain our view that Woolworths is a great company managed by excellent retailers," he wrote. "However, under the current strategic direction, we expect returns to investors to …
