Indian stock market Hits the roof on poll results

Today   my mobile alerts were buzzing and  emails pouring in with good news from the indian stock market. i also track the Indian stock market  and the  stock market literally were heading for the sky .

The Indian  stock trader authority  had to halt trading  twice today  as stocks were spiraling  out of control on the poll news of congress winning a landslide victory. that definitely took away a lot of uncertainty for the Indian stock market.

I was shocked when i got this message ( email) for one of the dummy portfolios i was tracking for myself

shooting up indian stock market

Markets have stopped trading for the day as the benchmarks hit another upper circuit Monday as soon as the trade resumed after 2 hour break. Investors are are euphoric after the United Progressive Alliance emerged victorious in the 2009 general elections. ( Watch )

Market experts views:
“Markets had previously worried that gains by leftist and smaller regional parties would weigh on the reform agenda and lead to a further blow-out in the already large fiscal deficit. In previous elections, both BJP- and Congress-led alliances had been unable to push through reforms, held down by allies with their own agendas. The government's rural jobs program and strong private sector investment have highlighted the positive effects of economic reform and liberalisation, and voters' shunning of smaller parties imply a desire for greater action on the reform front,” said a Moody’s Economy.com report

Stock market and High frequency trading

High frequency and computerised trading androgue trading is again  in the news with  trader Mr Adoboli working for UBS  who was arrested at his desk, is alleged to have lost £1.3 billion through his rogue trades  according to the company , now also annoucing that they might go into a loss in this quarter. According to some reports in the media it was said that Mr Adoboli Himself had reported the  trade when the trade went bad before the computers picked up the loss.
Not so long ago in 2008 Jérôme Kerviel, the Paris-based Société Générale trader lost £4 billion in rogue trades, but fought it out in court contesting that the trading firm knew about his trades with large amounts.
